The Lily Pond

I know, I know, everyone and his/her - brother/sister has painted the Giverny lily pond.  It is irresistible!  There is a definite spiritual quality in this place - a natural cathedral.

The truth is I push myself to paint "known" or "trite" subject matter, and when I do I usually create an abstraction of the image as I see it.

Usually there is not a gushing of emotions when I paint.  The process begins in sleep - and hovers over me when I awake.  There is a burst of early morning energy that propels me to the studio and the rest is history.  This is my work - I thrive creating these canvases.  The subject matter or marketability of the subject matter is inconsequential.  Recording my dreams, recreating my memories and just having fun with the process - that is heaven.

I love my job!!!!

This image is available as an 8"x10" stretched canvas giclee - in the summer grouping!  It may be purchased through this blog.

Thanks for looking!

Sunflowers

Summer arrived last week with it's tropical storm and rising temperatures!

To celebrate the season, I have amassed a group of summery images - giclees on stretched cotton canvas.  The first group of these will be 8" x 10" and may be purchased through this blog.

This image was created during an on site set up of sunflowers that were grown in a field adjacent to a teaching venue.  That day all of my students painted these from life - which can be intimidating, but they rose to the occasion and created wonderful canvases!

Have Fun and keep in touch!  We'll talk soon!
